A 56-year-old woman who had been missing since last weekend was located safe and well in Reykjavík yesterday.
Last week, we reported on the missing case of Sigríður Jóhannsdóttir, whose search involved over fifty emergency personnel.
Sigríður, a resident of Kópavogur, was found shortly after midday yesterday in Elliðaárdalur. She was taken to hospital for medical evaluation.
The Capital Area Police confirmed the news in a Facebook post, thanking the public and emergency services for their efforts.
Police had earlier announced that the search area had been widened. Rescue teams concentrated their efforts on Elliðaárdalur and surrounding areas in the eastern part of the city, where Sigríður was eventually found.
“Everyone who participated in the search for Sigríður is thanked for their assistance, not least our rescue teams who do invaluable work year-round,” the announcement read.
