Both visitors and locals are enjoying clear blue skies today in East Iceland, with temperatures peaking at 17°C.

As reported by mbl.is, the warmth offers a bright start to May in the Eastfjords, which is typically the sunniest region in the country. Elsewhere, conditions will be more mixed, according to forecasts from the Icelandic Meteorological Office.

Southern and southwesterly winds will bring mild but unsettled weather to many areas. As such, rain or drizzle is likely in parts of the south and west. Despite the damp forecast, the northeast is expected to remain largely dry.

Winds may become gusty at times, particularly along the southern and western coastlines, accompanied by increased humidity. Temperatures across these regions will range between 5°C and 10°C throughout the day.

The current pattern is set to continue into the coming days; warm southern air will dominate, but localised showers should be expected in several parts of the country.
